The body found Sunday inside an overturned SUV at the bottom of California's Prosser Lake on Sunday is "likely" Kiely Rodni, the 16-year-old Truckee girl who was reported missing over two weeks ago, sheriff's officials said Monday.

Kiely was last seen on Aug. 6 at a party with 200 to 300 other teenagers and young adults at the Prosser Family Campground, a U.S. Forest Service campsite with 29 sites on the west side of the lake.

Prosser Lake, officially known as Prosser Reservoir, is a scenic, manmade lake and popular recreation spot about 100 miles northeast of Sacramento and 210 miles northeast of San Francisco. The closest town to the reservoir is Truckee, a 10-minute drive from the lake. Kiely's family operates the Lost Trail Lodge in Truckee, which has been closed since she was reported missing.

Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon said at the press conference that the vehicle was found about 14 feet underwater near the campground, but she couldn't comment on the exact location when asked if it was within a couple hundred yards or a half-mile of the site.

Located about 1.5 miles above the confluence of Prosser Creek and the Truckee River, Prosser Creek Dam impounds the lake, holding up 29,800 acre feet of water that's used for flood control, recreation and improvement of fishery flows in the Truckee River, according to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. The Forest Service says the lake is popular for canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing and swimming.

Captain Sam Brown of the Nevada County Sheriff's Office said Prosser Reservoir is busy in the summer and gets a lot of foot traffic. As local officials and volunteers undertook a huge search operation in recent weeks, the lake was not closed to the public. "We figured the more eyes out there, the better off we would be at finding her," he said.

A volunteer search team from the Adventures With Purpose YouTube channel announced on Sunday that they found Kiely's car, a silver Honda CR-V, with her body submerged inside it. The dive team reported they used sonar-equipped boats to locate her car 55 feet offshore, some 400 yards south of the campground.
